Braunshausen, with about 320 inhabitants the smallest village of Hallenberg, was first mentioned in a document in 1474. The village has preserved its village character to this day and radiates peace and tranquility with its farmsteads and neat half-timbered houses. The Catholic Church of St. Anthony was built in 1899 in neo-Gothic style. The landmark of the village is the Kreuzberg Chapel, built in 1929, from which one can enjoy a wide view of the Sauerland and the neighboring Hesse region.
