The state-approved health resort Hirschberg is picturesquely embedded in the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park, the largest contiguous forest area in North Rhine-Westphalia. Hirschberg, the former hunting seat of the Cologne Electors, lies 450 m above sea level. The townscape is characterized by numerous listed half-timbered houses. With its location directly on the Sauerland-Waldroute, the town invites visitors to linger and take in the numerous sights.
Hirschberg is the reigning winner of the 2014 district competition and has once again succeeded in winning the district competition "Our village has a future". After the silver medal at the district competition in 2011, this was the first gold medal for Hirschberg in the new millennium. All clubs, groups and also almost all Hirschberg residents have actively participated in the creation and preparation of sights, as well as the maintenance of paths and facilities.
