Kierspe, a town with a population of about 17,000, is located in the varied landscape of the Ebbegebirge Nature Park and, with the tip of its district Rönsahl, juts out over the Oberbergische Kreis into the Rhineland. The preservation of the village character plays a decisive role in Rönsahl, as Rönsahl is a multiple winner of the competition "Our Village has a Future". The Historic Distillery, which was converted into an event and cultural center in 2008, is a popular venue for locals and guests. The premises are suitable for musical performances, exhibitions and all kinds of cabaret. Cultural events are held there time and again. In the brewing cellar of the distillery the Rönsahl beer is brewed regularly and every 1st Friday of the month the brewing cellar opens its distillery regulars' table from 19.00 to 23.00 o'clock for everybody.
