Helminghausen is a small, cozy village in the middle of the Diemelsee Nature Park below the dam in the Diemel valley on the state border between Hessen and NRW. Here the Hochsauerland with its wooded hills meets the Waldeck Upland. The terrain rises quite steeply both to the north to the Brandt, as well as to the south to the 595 mtr. high Eisenberg. From the village center it is only 500 m to the Diemelsee with its diverse tourist offers in every season.
In Helminghausen you can hike on premium hiking trails, cycle on signposted routes, swim in the Diemelsee or just relax.
In the village there is a camping site, a miniature golf course as well as vacation apartments and guesthouses. There is also a village community hall, a sports and playground and a youth campground. To the west, a compensatory pond of the Diemelsee adjoins the village center.
