Hiddingsen (first mentioned in a document in 1072) is known for a stone box grave from the Neolithic period around 3000 B.C. In 1934, 98 skeletons were recovered here. The outlines of the grave site have been reconstructed today next to the restaurant "Zur Steinkiste". Hiddingsen borders on a military training area from the First World War with a size of about 250 ha today. Since 2005, the entire area has been a nature reserve and invites hikers for extensive walks.
